Job Summary
The Client Laboratory is hiring a hands-on Molecular Laboratory Scientist with direct experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) high-complexity clinical laboratory testing and molecular diagnostics.
This is an onsite laboratory role supporting public health testing in a regulated clinical environment. Candidates must have recent hands-on experience performing molecular testing sequencing workflows specimen processing result interpretation quality control troubleshooting instrumentation and maintaining CLIA-compliant laboratory practices.
Strong experience with Illumina or PacBio sequencing platforms is required.
This is not a research-only or academic laboratory role.
Qualified candidates should have experience working in a clinical laboratory public health laboratory reference laboratory hospital laboratory or other regulated high-complexity testing
environment.
Candidates without direct hands-on molecular sequencing experience CLIA high-complexity laboratory exposure or clinical testing experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nucleic acid extraction using manual and automated workflows
- Perform molecular testing including PCR NGS sequencing and related molecular diagnostic workflows
- Operate and troubleshoot Illumina and/or PacBio sequencing instrumentation
- Process clinical environmental and biological specimens in a regulated laboratory setting
- Interpret validate and report laboratory test results
- Support assay validation test development and implementation of new molecular methods
- Prepare and maintain SOPs validation documentation and laboratory records
- Perform instrument calibration maintenance and troubleshooting
- Execute quality control procedures and document QC activities
- Participate in proficiency testing programs
- Maintain compliance with CLIA laboratory standards and testing procedures
- Identify testing deviations troubleshoot issues and document corrective actions
- Support daily execution of high-complexity testing workflows
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
- Bachelors degree in Biological Science Microbiology Molecular Biology Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
- 2 years of high-complexity clinical laboratory testing experience
- 1 year of direct NGS experience
- Hands-on experience with Illumina or PacBio sequencing platforms
- Strong molecular biology laboratory experience
- PCR and nucleic acid extraction experience
- Experience with regulated laboratory documentation QC and compliance
- Knowledge of CLIA laboratory standards
- Experience interpreting and validating laboratory test results
- Experience with laboratory instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
