Service Advisor - High-Ownership Role for an Independent Automotive Repair Shop

Location: Union City CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-5:00 PM

Compensation: $60000 base salary team bonus. Realistic total compensation is expected around $85000-$100000 for a strong performer.

About the Opportunity

AutoShop Recruiting is partnered with an established independent automotive repair shop in Union City CA to hire an experienced Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer. This is a customer-facing sales-focused role for someone who can answer phones with confidence build trust quickly present estimates clearly and keep repair orders moving from check-in to vehicle pickup.

This shop values process communication coachability and consistent execution. The team uses Tekmetric PartsTech and a structured inspection workflow and ownership is looking for an advisor who can help protect customer experience shop revenue and gross profit without creating chaos at the counter.

What Youll Do

This is a front-counter leadership role. You will:

• Greet customers answer phones and create a strong first impression
• Listen to customer concerns and clearly document vehicle needs
• Build repair orders and estimates in Tekmetric
• Source parts through PartsTech and coordinate with approved vendors
• Present recommendations and estimates with confidence and integrity
• Sell needed work while building value and maintaining trust
• Coordinate with technicians inspectors and management to keep workflow moving
• Communicate with customers throughout the repair process
• Support photos videos and inspection communication when needed
• Close out repair orders accept payment and complete a professional customer handoff

What Were Looking For

We are looking for a Service Advisor who is organized coachable and comfortable owning the customer experience from start to finish:

• Proven experience as an Automotive Service Advisor Service Writer or similar customer-facing automotive role
• Strong phone skills and ability to convert calls into appointments
• Ability to present estimates build value and close recommended work
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Comfort working in a structured process and taking coaching well
• Ability to work closely with technicians inspectors and management
• Valid drivers license

Preferred Experience

• Tekmetric experience
• PartsTech experience
• Independent automotive repair shop experience
• Dealership service advisor experience with a willingness to learn the independent shop model
• Familiarity with digital vehicle inspections photos videos and estimate presentation

Compensation & Benefits

• $60000 base salary
• Team bonus based on shop revenue and gross profit performance
• Realistic total compensation around $85000-$100000 for the right advisor
• QSEHRA health reimbursement: $300/month individual $600/month employee plus spouse and up to $1034/month family
• PTO/sick/holiday bank typically around 13 days for a seasoned hire
• Paid holidays including July 4 Thanksgiving day after Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years
• Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends mentioned

Interview Process

The process starts with a phone call that may include role-play to evaluate phone presence customer communication and sales ability. Strong candidates will then be invited to the shop for a tour team introduction and final fit discussion.
