Position SummaryThe Director of Adult Faith Formation is responsible for developing coordinating and evaluating comprehensive programs that foster the spiritual growth and lifelong faith development of adults within the parish community. Rooted in Catholic teaching and tradition this role supports parishioners in deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer catechesis sacramental preparation and community engagement. The Director of Adult Faith Formation is expected to model Christian discipleship and uphold the teachings and values of the Catholic Church in both professional and personal conduct. Key Responsibilities- Design and implement a cohesive adult faith formation plan aligned with parish mission and diocesan guidelines.
- Coordinate programs such as Bible studies small faith-sharing groups retreats workshops and seasonal offerings (Advent Lent etc.).
- Develop and oversee the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) process for those entering the Church.
- Promote ongoing conversion and discipleship among adult parishioners.
- Provide opportunities for theological education spiritual enrichment and practical application of Catholic teachings.
- Foster a welcoming environment for seekers inactive Catholics and those exploring the faith.
- Recruit train and support volunteers and catechists.
- Collaborate with parish staff clergy and ministry leaders to integrate adult formation into all aspects of parish life.
- Work closely with youth and family ministries to encourage intergenerational faith formation.
- Coordinate preparation programs for adult sacraments (Confirmation Eucharist Marriage as appropriate).
- Ensure all sacramental catechesis meets diocesan requirements and reflects Church teaching.
- Promote programs through parish communication channels (bulletin website social media).
- Personally invite and accompany individuals into deeper participation in parish life.
- Work with the Director of Operations to develop and manage the adult formation budget.
- Maintain records of participation and sacramental preparation.
- Regularly evaluate programs and adapt based on parish needs and feedback.
Qualifications- Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to the mission of the Church.
- Bachelors degree in Theology Pastoral Ministry Religious Education or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in parish ministry or adult faith formation.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic doctrine Scripture and pastoral practice.
- Excellent communication organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across diverse groups.
- Proficiency in digital tools for communication and program delivery.
