Job Summary

Reports To:
Clinic Director
Required Qualifications:
  • Current RN License in good standing with the State of Kansas
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years experience in a substance use disorder treatment facility
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients employees and students
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Knowledge of MAT medications (e.g. buprenorphine methadone naltrexone) dosing protocols side effects interactions and documentation
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures patient assessments medication administration infection control
  • Knowledge of overdose recognition and response (including naloxone administration) and other urgent medical interventions
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and privacy
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing trauma-informed care to substance use disorder patients in MAT services and treatment programs. Responsibilities include administering medications monitoring patients conducting intake assessments supporting medical providers and providing patient education. The MAT Clinic Nurse must maintain a safe respectful and stigma-free environment for patients and adhere to state federal and clinic regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Conduct intake evaluations collect vital signs health histories and risk screenings and perform ongoing assessments to guide treatment planning.
  • Educate patients on medication use side effects and recovery support options.
  • Administer MAT medication in accordance with doctors orders and clinic protocols.
  • Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms side effects or adverse reactions escalating concerns as needed.
  • Call or electronically send physician orders or referrals as ordered.
  • Obtain specimens for drug screening including any necessary accompanying forms.
  • Provide patient education on MAT services and addiction treatment.
  • Review Prescription Drug Monitoring Program for patients.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure prior authorization forms are completed.
  • Triage current patient and potential patient calls document calls accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records in electronic health records (EHR) including medication logs controlled substance counts and patient responses.
  • Comply with state federal and clinical regulations HIPAA Standards and universal precautions.
  • Attend annual Kansas Opioid Conference.
  • Attend monthly nursing meetings and CKF all staff meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Based on an 8-hour day
  • Sit Continuously 5.5 8 hrs daily

PHI Access Level:
Level 4 This position will have regular access to patient medical information and limited access to employee medical information through administration of TB skin testing.
