Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Your main mission is simple: keep our swimmers safe and the vibes positive. You wont just be sitting in a chair; youll be an essential part of the FRC team by:
- Safety & Surveillance: Continuously scan the aquatic facility refraining from socializing while on duty to ensure patron safety.
- Rule Enforcement: Communicate and enforce all policies and rules in a personable and professional manner.
- Emergency Response: Provide necessary care in any emergency and respond immediately to unsafe conditions on the pool deck.
- Facility Operations: Conduct pool inspections complete chemical tests and record all findings.
- Opening/Closing: Perform necessary facility opening and closing procedures for scheduled shifts.
- Maintenance: Complete assigned cleaning tasks to maintain high facility standards.
- Reporting: Document any incidents or injuries and report directly to the Assistant Director/Educator of Health & Safety & Aquatics Program.
- Customer Service: Assist patrons with issues or questions while providing positive and professional service.
- Professional Development and Presence: Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-service training as available for this per-diem position. Maintain a professional appearance by always wearing the required aquatic facility attire while on duty.
Skills & Competencies
- Adaptability: The ability to adjust to changing conditions and varied patron needs.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Utilize critical thinking to solve on-the-job issues and handle diverse populations.
- Safety Knowledge: Understand the basic principles and practices of safety within an aquatic facility.
- Communication: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Focus & Awareness: Maintain constant mental and visual attention with the ability to move quickly between workspaces if a traumatic event occurs.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguarding CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience working as a lifeguard is preferred.
- Familiarity: Knowledge of general campus recreation user guidelines.
