Portfolio Manager Fencing Solutions
We are seeking a commercially driven Portfolio Manager to lead the development and expansion of our Fencing Solutions portfolio.
This is a hybrid role combining category development and business development with a strong focus on driving sales growth across new and existing channels.
The role has been created to build and grow the fencing portfolio into a structured and scalable category while developing the capability and experience required to progress into a future Category Manager position.
The successful candidate will take ownership of sales and margin performance within the portfolio while working closely with the Category Manager to shape the strategy and enhance the overall product offering.
This role reports directly to the Category Manager with a dotted line to the National Sales Manager to ensure alignment between category strategy and market execution.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Ownership & Reporting
- Overall ownership of portfolio performance including sales pipeline margin EBITDA and growth metrics
- Lead regular performance reviews and provide clear reporting on activity results and opportunities
- Take accountability for delivering agreed sales and growth targets
- Contribute to forecasting and planning processes
Category / Portfolio Development (Strategic Input)
- Actively contribute to the development and execution of the Fencing Solutions portfolio strategy
- Work closely with the Category Manager and procurement teams to shape the product offering
- Provide input into range development product selection and market positioning
- Identify gaps opportunities and innovation within the portfolio
- Support the ongoing development of a structured and commercially focused category
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute a clear sales and growth plan for the fencing portfolio
- Build manage and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Identify and win new business
- Grow existing accounts while expanding into new customer segments
- Drive category penetration and increase market share
- Build strong relationships with contractors installers merchants and key customers
- Establish our client as a leading supplier within the fencing solutions market
- Represent the business at trade events demonstrations and customer engagements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the National Sales Manager to support commercial activity and customer engagement
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure stock availability and efficient supply
- Engage with marketing on product launches and promotional activity
- Manage and guide the Product Specialist in field activity and customer engagement
Profile
- Minimum 5 years experience in a sales business development or commercial role
- Strong understanding of fencing construction agri steel or related sectors
- Proven track record of building pipelines and delivering sales growth
- Commercially aware with the ability to contribute to product and category decisions
- Strong understanding of contractor merchant and project-led sales environments
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ambitious and motivated to develop within a commercial/category management pathway
- Third-level qualification in a business or related discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
- Experience with ERP systems and an understanding of data-driven decision making is an advantage
