Senior Metering Consultant

EnerFORGE is part of Oshawa Power Group of Companies (Group) and an affiliate of the local hydro-electric distribution company that supplies electricity to 63000 customers in the city of Oshawa. About this Opportunity

This position will report to the SVP of Growth and Innovation EnerFORGE and is responsible for leading and performing metering field services within EnerFORGE and across EnerFORGE customer engagements. This role provides supervisory oversight technical expertise and safety leadership to ensure compliant high-quality delivery of metering services for their customers. Customer engagements would be identified in service level agreements specific to each customer.

Location: Greater Toronto Area

Hourly Wage Range: $55.00 per hour to $65.00 per hour

As the successful applicant you will have the opportunity to be involved with:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead schedule and coordinate daily work assignments for metering field personnel assigned to EnerFORGEs service delivery;
  • Provide technical oversight coaching and field guidance. Coordinate assigned projects with internal departments as well as external partners/contractors (e.g. sub/suite metering initiatives site evaluations for converting bulk metered customer to individual metering AMI 2.0 deployment) etc.;
  • Perform the duties of a Meter Technician as required;
  • Support workforce competency and training initiatives.

Technical Metering Services

  • Perform and oversee installation maintenance testing and troubleshooting of metering systems.
  • Support single-phase polyphase transformer-rated and smart metering systems.
  • Conduct field audits and resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Assisting with metering work for other utilities during customer engagements when required;

Safety & Compliance

  • Apply and enforce safe work practices in accordance with OHSA IHSA and applicable codes.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses tailboards and worksite safety inspections.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within field operations.

Administration & Quality

  • Maintain accurate records documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor work quality and compliance with EnerFORGE standards and customer requirements.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Journeyperson Meter Technician.
  • 10-15 years experience in a senior metering role working with / leading teams.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • MEARIE Journeyperson Metering Technician Certificate.
  • Postsecondary education in an electrical discipline (e.g. Electrical Technician or Instrumentation & Control) is an asset.
  • OACETT Certification would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals and electrical distribution systems with specific expertise in metering equipment AMI/AMR systems transformerrated metering and interval data systems (e.g. MV90).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to coach guide and motivate Metering trades staff and contractors.
  • Proficiency with computers and metering-related software (AMI head-end systems MDM/R MV90 CIS interfaces and diagnostic tools).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams / departments to resolve metering issues and support system integration.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Customer Service or Operations would be considered an asset;
  • Valid Class G Ontario Drivers License drivers insurance and excellent driving record.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Strong written and oral communication;
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills;
  • First Aid and WHMIS training and knowledge of ESA and the OHSA are considered an asset;
  • Electrical Safety awareness and experience working in the vicinity of live electricity considered an asset.
