What You Will Do

  • Provide mental health/diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy for students of the University.
  • Maintain client charts write reports and perform other administrative duties as necessary.
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate practicum trainees and undergraduate interns.
  • Provide clinical input during case conferences.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Provide consultation to employees of the University when needed.
  • Refer consult and coordinate care between Counseling Services and other campus departments as well as community resources in order to meet clinical needs of students appropriately and ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to maintain licensure.
  • Provide crisis intervention and consultation as needed.

FLSA: Exempt

10-Month Appointment: August 1-May 31 (continuing)

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

-Masters degree in Social Work Clinical/Counseling Psychology Art Therapy Counseling or equivalent from an accredited college or university graduate program.
-Eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois (e.g. Licensed Social Worker Licensed Professional Counselor Licensed Psychologist).
-Previous clinical experience preferably with emerging adults.
-Training in DSM-5-TR diagnosis and classifications therapeutic orientations and treatment modalities required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

-Ability to administer batteries of psychological assessments with appropriate follow-up reports under supervision.
-Outreach/presentation skills (e.g. to campus community and professional conferences psycho-educational workshops) are highly desirable.
-Must possess strong individual crisis intervention and group counseling skills.
-Ability to work cooperatively as a clinical team member and strong written and oral communication skills required.
-Understanding of suicide risk assessment and ability to intervene with individuals who may be at risk for suicide is particularly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Independent clinical licensure in the State of Illinois (e.g. licensed clinical social worker licensed clinical professional counselor licensed psychologist) Experience or specialized training in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:

  • Crisis intervention and risk evaluation
  • University or college counseling center settings
  • Substance use
  • Disordered eating
  • Sexual assault and trauma-informed care
