General Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accounting principles practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial information. This position works in conjunction with all areas of Finance including Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable and Payroll. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including but not limited to accounting transaction recording general ledger reconciliations payroll review month-end close financial and management report preparation and year-end audit assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience)
Must be proficient and have experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Must be extremely detail oriented and have a problem-solving attitude
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task prioritize work work under pressure and meet deadlines required
Working Conditions:
Office environment salary position minimum forty hours per week.
Carrying up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
Withstands pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed.
Normal coordination and/or visual attention to connection with the standard flow of work.
Good working conditions in an office environment.
Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with recording financial transactions which includes processing and recording invoices and cash receipts preparing and recording journal entries in accordance with GAAP and maintaining supporting documentation
Reviews biweekly payroll ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accurate submission of employee pay data
Generates and distributes monthly nonpatient billings
Assists with completion of monthly and yearly close processes ensuring general ledger accounts are reconciled and have appropriate supporting documentation to conduct analysis
Assists with completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements and other management reports
Assists with budget variance analysis and reporting
Ensures compliance with internal accounting procedures
Provides assistance in preparation for and during annual audits
Provides executive administrative support including but not limited to coordination and documentation of meetings management of calendars and email correspondence and generation of reports and presentations
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
