About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Deputy Editor to join our team at Advanced Science Wileys flagship open-access this role you will help shape the future of cutting-edge research in electronics sensors and digital hardware while driving the strategic growth and visibility of the journal. You will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and collaborate across departments to uphold the highest standards of scientific publishing.
This is a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of science and publishing attending conferences building relationships with leading researchers and making meaningful editorial decisions that advance the field.
What Youll Do
- Strategically develop one or more journals in partnership with the Editor-in-Chief driving growth from both scientific and publishing perspectives within the broader physical sciences portfolio.
- Build and maintain a strong network of researchers serving as the primary point of contact for authors peer reviewers and editorial board members.
- Drive content acquisition and submission growth by leveraging your subject-matter expertise industry knowledge and desk research skills.
- Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at international conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach at universities and research institutes.
- Manage the peer review process end-to-end including editorial evaluation and manuscript decision-making for one or more journals.
- Champion best practices and the highest ethical standards in open-access publishing.
What Were Looking For
Required
- PhD in materials science materials engineering electronic engineering or a related field with a strong research background and up-to-date knowledge of recent developments in electronics sensors and digital hardware.
- 2 years of post-PhD experience in postdoctoral research industry academia publishing or an international setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and achieve results through personal initiative and professional influence.
- Confidence to represent a journal portfolio at conferences and in outreach settings.
Preferred
- Prior experience in publishing editorial work or science communication.
- Familiarity with Open Access workflows and Open Research practices.
- A genuine enthusiasm for science communication and advocacy for innovation in research publishing.
