What you can expect to work on
Niowave is an engineering playground where you will be engaged in supporting processes across multiple major programs that have a direct impact on cancer patient survival.
The Manufacturing Engineer provides manufacturing engineering support for Niowaves linear accelerators hot cells and radiochemistry equipment including fabrication and assembly involving specialized alloys such as niobium and other high-performance materials. The role of the manufacturing engineer centers around producing timely results that are high quality and accurate. Benefiting from an analytical inquiring and critical mind this job requires imagination and strong problem-solving skills but with a strong technical orientation.
  • Develops documents and improves manufacturing processes for machined parts fabricated assemblies and integrated systems supporting accelerators hot cells and radiochemistry equipment
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing documentation such as work instructions routers/travelers inspection points bills of process and standard work
  • Defines process controls tooling/fixture requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure repeatable high-quality outcomes
  • Supports material selection sourcing inputs and process considerations for specialized alloys (including niobium) and demanding applications (e.g. vacuum compatibility high cleanliness fit-up/tolerance stack-up)
  • Leads and participates in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews; provides actionable feedback to improve manufacturability cost cycle time and quality
What you need to succeed
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Manufacturing Mechanical Industrial or related field) or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering production engineering or process engineering in a regulated high-reliability or precision manufacturing environment including the following:
    • Developing manufacturing documentation (work instructions travelers/routers inspection points and standard work)
    • Supporting machining and fabrication operations including defining tooling/fixture requirements and inspection methods
    • Driving root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Proficient hands-on experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvements (Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing 5S)
  • Embraces and models the Niowave Core Values of Teamwork Courage Integrity and Upright Zeal
  • Understands how to integrate into a new team/organization appreciates the history of current state know how and when to make suggestions as well as using just the right pace to reach the improved future state
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of manufacturing methods for precision machined parts and complex assemblies.
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications; working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Displays ability to break down complex issues into manageable pieces and drive closure with cross-functional partners
  • Displays excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Possesses strong organizational and project management skills for self and teams
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to critically interpret and use data to manage risk
  • Possesses ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Great to have
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g. Maximo) or structured preventive maintenance environments
  • Experience working in environments requiring strong documentation discipline traceability and configuration control
  • Experience supporting accelerator systems radiopharmaceutical systems hot cells or vacuum-compatible hardware
  • Experience with specialized alloys and difficult-to-machine materials (including niobium; titanium Inconel Hastelloy etc. beneficial)
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred); CAM exposure or collaboration experience with CNC programmers
  • Experience working in GMP and NRC regulated facilities
