Our client a leading office furniture manufacturing company based in Harrismith Eastern Free State requires a Production Manager for their factory.
The Production Manager is responsible for end-to-end manufacturing performance within an office furniture production environment. The role ensures delivery of the right quantity at the right time and at the right quality while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across a workforce of 200 employees.
Duties & Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Lead daily production planning and execution aligned to sales demand and forecasts
- Ensure achievement of output targets and on-time delivery (OTIF)
Quality Management
- Ensure consistent adherence to product specifications and quality standards
- Drive reduction in defects rework and customer complaints
Team Leadership
- Lead coach and develop 5 direct reports (Production Supervisors / Engineers / Planners)
- Oversee 200 indirect reports across manufacturing operations
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma initiatives
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost reduction projects
Cost & Performance Management
- Manage production budgets and cost control initiatives
- Improve cost per unit and operational efficiency
- Reduce waste scrap and downtime
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Procurement Sales Design and Logistics teams
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering (essential)
Experience
- Minimum 8 years experience as a Production Manager
- Proven experience in a private manufacturing environment
- Experience in furniture manufacturing or similar industry advantageous
- Demonstrated experience managing large teams (100 employees)
