A creative and motivated Design & Technology Early Career Teacher (ECT) is required to join a supportive secondary school in Andover from September 2026. This is a full-time permanent opportunity for a graduate practitioner who is eager to launch their career in a department that values practical innovation student safety and modern design principles.

The Role

• Teaching Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4 with the opportunity to specialize in areas such as Resistant Materials Product Design or Engineering.

• Planning and delivering structured practical lessons that leverage effective classroom management and focus on workshop safety and equipment proficiency.

• Participating in a comprehensive ECT induction program featuring a dedicated subject mentor a reduced teaching timetable and bespoke professional development sessions.

• Monitoring pupil development and utilizing data to implement targeted strategies that elevate academic results and project outcomes.

• Contributing to the evolution of the DT curriculum including the integration of digital design tools and sustainable materials.

• Working as part of a cooperative department that prizes peer sharing collaborative planning and the nurturing of new teaching talent.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by September 2026.

• A strong degree in Design & Technology Product Design Engineering or a related field.

• A professional tenacious and highly methodical approach to classroom instruction and workshop management.

• Demonstrated success during teaching placements with a clear understanding of health and safety regulations (DATA/CLEAPSS).

• Competency in using digital design software (CAD) and manufacturing technology (CAM) to facilitate modern learning.

• A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to contribute to the wider life of a supportive school community.
