TekCom Resources is seeking a Fiber Technician / Lead Installer (Level 4) to support commercial structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an experienced fiber professional who can lead small crews while performing advanced fiber installation splicing testing troubleshooting and documentation activities in fast-paced commercial environments.
The Fiber Technician / Lead Installer will be responsible for overseeing daily field activities ensuring quality workmanship maintaining safety compliance and supporting successful project execution while working closely with Project Managers General Contractors and customers.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate crews of 24 technicians
Plan daily work activities and sequence tasks effectively
Perform mechanical and fusion splicing
Conduct OTDR and power meter testing
Validate fiber test results and maintain documentation
Build MDF/IDF rooms and manage fiber routing
Maintain patch management and labeling standards
Support warranty documentation requirements
Walk jobsites with supervisors customers and General Contractors
Troubleshoot fiber performance and connectivity issues
Read and interpret drawings specifications and as-built documentation
Apply basic networking concepts including patching and VLAN awareness
Maintain safe clean and organized job sites

Deliver clean fiber management and professional workmanship
Maintain accurate documentation and testing records
Ensure projects stay on schedule with minimal rework
Demonstrate professionalism with customers PMs and field leadership
Support strong communication and teamwork across project teams

Required Qualifications
46 years of structured cabling and fiber optic experience
Proven leadership experience managing crews or project scopes
Strong fiber handling splicing and testing experience
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong safety awareness and professionalism on jobsites
Ability to work in active construction environments data rooms tight spaces and ladder environments
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI Installer 2 Fiber (INSTF)
Fusion splicing certification
Manufacturer fiber training/certifications
Networking fundamentals coursework or field exposure
Experience with warranty documentation and closeout packages
