Wastewater Treatment Electrician(Electrical and Instrumentation Technician)The Sanitation Districts clean the wastewater of over 5 million people and turn it into resources 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Through the operation of 11 wastewater treatment facilities approximately 510 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater are treated at these facilities and 165 MGD are available for reuse. The San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) currently provides primary secondary and tertiary treatment for a design capacity of 100 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD) and serves a large residential population of approximatelypeople.
We are now recruiting for skilled Wastewater Treatment Electricians(Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians)at our San Jose Creek WRP located in Whittier California. This is a unique opportunity to work on primary/secondary/tertiary treatment solids processing UV disinfection and advanced water treatment all at one facility. Theessential functions of this position are to perform progressively more skilled work in the installation maintenance and repair of instrumentation computer process control and electrical equipment and systems.
This position operates on a 9/80 work schedule of Monday through Thursday (6:30am-4:00pm) and the working Friday (6:30am3:00pm). Regular Days Off (RDO) are alternating Fridays. Occasional after-hours work overtime and weekend call-backs may be required and will be compensated accordingly. Additional benefit information is available on the Benefits tab.JOB SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of a Supervisor of Electrical and Instrumentation Repair incumbents assemble install maintain calibrate troubleshoot and repair and/or replace electrical electronic mechanical pneumatic hydraulic digital and analog control equipment and systems; operate maintain calibrate and repair pneumatic and electronic testing and measuring instruments; maintain records and prepare reports on maintenance and repair work calibration readings and related data; order parts supplies and equipment; instruct lower level classes in the series; read interpret and prepare schematic diagrams blueprints sketches and equipment specifications; perform math calculations related to the trades; drive to and perform inspections on new construction; maintain shop area; and perform related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- All candidates must possess a valid California Class C driver license ANDfour years of Electrical & Instrumentation Technician experience performing progressively responsible installation maintenance and repair work on instrumentation computer process control and electrical equipment and systems.Twelve units of college course work or completion of one year of a two-year degree or certification program in instrumentation electronics or electrical technology or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience -OR-Completion of a two-year degree or certification program in instrumentation electronics or electrical technology or a closely related field for two years of the required experience.

Ability to: Utilize specialized tools math formulas and equipment of the trade; independently troubleshoot and repair electrical electronic mechanical pneumatic hydraulic digital and analog control equipment and systems; read interpret and prepare schematic diagrams blueprints sketches and equipment specifications; maintain records and prepare reports; independently perform difficult assignments; instruct lower-level apprentices in trade techniques. - SELECTION PROCESS:
