GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supervisor the Cardiology Technician is primarily responsible for performing the technical aspects of taking electrocardiograms applying and removing arrhythmia monitors exercise and radionuclide exercise testing and scanning Holter monitors as ordered by physicians. Additionally all required paperwork associated with the above procedures must be completed in an accurate and timely manner. On-call duties as assigned. AHA-BLS certification is required however certification is a not qualifying factor to obtain the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Previous hospital experience ( 1 year ) as an Critical Care Technician LPN clinical assistant or EMT.
3. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to the date of renewal.
4. Previous cardiology experience will be considered first.
5. Basic working knowledge of human cardiac anatomy physiology arrhythmias and acquired heart disease preferred.
6. Completion of the CVPH Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Course preferred or must complete within 3 months.
As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
This is a bargaining union position.
