FLOATING CAREGIVER DESCRIPTION
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
2026-2027 school year -Starts in August of 2026
7:30 AM-3:30 PM M-F
The GSRP Floating Caregiver offers flexible support to preschool students and teachers in GSRP classrooms focusing on supervision engagement routines and safety. Roles include supervising children during play naptime and activities and assisting with meal prep. This role is perfect for someone who loves being hands-on and loves helping to create a warm consistent environment for children.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a warm supportive attitude toward children and families of all cultures
- Associates degree in early childhood education Child Development or a related field OR
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR
- Equivalent qualifications as approved by the State Board (minimum of 120 clock hours)
- Training in CPR & First Aid or willingness to be certified in both
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check (including fingerprinting) before employment and periodically afterward.
- Valid Drivers License required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Evidence of successful teaching experience and proven proficiency in working with GSRP or preschool-age children.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable.
- The preferred applicant is a practicing Catholic and demonstrates enthusiasm for sharing their faith with children through both knowledge and actions.
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communication and collaboration with the classroom teacher regarding childrens behavior and progress are essential
- Regularly bend stand walk talk twist and may stoop kneel crouch or crawl for extended periods
- Follow written IEPs and support plans ensuring all IEP requirements are met
- Must follow all of IHMs Great Start Readiness Program Teacher Handbook and GSRPs Policies and Procedures
- Must be at work with regular dependable and punctual attendance a mandatory expectation.
- Will educate three and four-year-olds within a preschool setting
- May need to supervise the classroom during the lead teachers absence or assume the lead role when necessary
- Will engage with a vulnerable population meeting the programs eligibility criteria.
- Will integrate into the professional team-teaching model employed by GSRP
- Will attend and contribute to professional development sessions.
- Will assist in the development and participation of recruitment and outreach initiatives.
- Will employ a consistent daily routine ensuring a safe environment for all learners
- Must be able to always maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude
- Ensure licensing protocols are being followed
- Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. (Preschool Children)

REPORTS TO: GSRP Director/Designate
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
- 7:30 AM-3:30 PM M-F. These hours could start at 10am and possibly go to 6pm for after-care.
- School Year
- Five days per week
- Position status Based on Enrollment and Need non-exempt work schedule could lead to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- An hourly rate is commensurate with the candidates education and proven experience.
