Job Summary

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with the organizations salary structure and budget.
Summary of the Job:
The Donations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the donations lifecycle including intake sorting quality control processing and movement of merchandise to the sales floor. This role ensures that donated goods are handled efficiently safely and in alignment with store standards to maximize resale value and support The Samaritan Inns mission. This position directly supervises the Donations Team including the Clothing Donations Attendant and Donations Attendants.
Essential Functions:
  • Oversee daily donation intake and ensure a positive donor experience.
  • Manage the full donations workflow: intake sorting categorization staging and transfer to sales floor.
  • Supervise Clothing Donations Attendants and Donations Attendants.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity and workflow efficiency.
  • Train coach and develop staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain quality control standards for merchandise.
  • Ensure proper disposal of unsellable goods.
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe donations processing area.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned including opening and closing.
  • Coordinate donation pickups and logistics.
  • Partner with vendors for salvage and recycling operations.
Required Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 23 years of experience in retail warehouse or operations.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Texas drivers license and insurance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in donation-based retail thrift or nonprofit environments.
  • Experience managing backroom operations production flow or inventory processing.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Familiarity with logistics coordination or vendor management.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Bookkeeping experience or comfort with daily sales reconciliation.

  • Ability to coach train and lead staff and volunteers in a retail environment.
  • Strong verbal written and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office POS systems and general Windows-based platforms.

  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math computations for reconciling daily receipts and supporting bookkeeping duties.
