The Assistant Business Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the operational and strategic objectives of our educational institution in Fig Tree Pocket Queensland. This position is designed for a mid-senior level professional who will assist in managing daily business operations ensuring compliance with educational standards and contributing to the overall growth and efficiency of the organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills and a passion for education and training.
About the Role
The Assistant Business Manager (ABM) is the senior operational and administrative partner to the Business Manager. The ABMs durable ongoing scope is HR operations and employment relations contracts and procurement external hires and lettingslogisticsand oversight IT and cyber co-ordination insuranceandriskadministration governanceandBoardadministration andoperational support for school-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of business strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead day-to-day HR and Employment Relation processes and reporting
- Coordinate and oversee administrative functions to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Mentorandprovideoperationalsupporttoadministrationstaffwithintheschoolasappropriate.
- Maintain compliance with educational regulations and standards.
- Facilitate communication between departments to promote collaboration and efficiency for the day to day operations of the school.
- Manage training and development of staff members across the school.
- Provide financial and project administration support to the Principal and Business Manager for Capital Projects.
- Hold the contractualcommercial and reporting lead for the schools external hires program
- Coordinate the IT MSP relationship M365 administrationlicensingand SSO.
- Lead user lifecycle (onboarding / off-boarding accounts and devices) cyber awareness training phishingsimulationsand access reviews.
- Monitor and analyse performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management meetings.
QualificationsandExperienceEssential
- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration HR Finance or Project Management or equivalent experience.
- Minimum2yearsexperienceinasenioradministrativeHRoroperationsrolepreferably in an independent school ECEC service or NFP.
- Demonstratedexperienceleadingrecruitmentcontractsandsupplieradministration.
- StrongunderstandingofWHSPrivacychild-safetyandEA/Awardcomplianceenvironments.
- AdvancedproficiencyinMicrosoft365HRIS()governance/board portal platforms and document management systems.
- Demonstratedabilitytomanageconfidentialinformationwithintegrity.
- CurrentBlueCard(WorkingwithChildrenCheck).
- CurrentFirstAidandCPRcertificates(orwillingnesstoobtainpriortocommencement).
KeySelectionCriteria

- Operational Leadership:Ability to lead day-to-day HR contracts externalhires operation and administration across a complex multi-programorganisation.
- Executive Administration Assistance:Demonstratedexperience supporting a Executive or governance function including pack production statutory registermaintenanceand Compliance administration.
- Employment Relations & WHS Administration:Strong administrative experience in EA / Award interpretation Job Evaluation moderation WHS compliance reporting and grievanceadministration.
- Project & Capital Works Support (time-limited):Experience supporting projects including cost tracking operational reportingand donor / grant administration.
- Confidentiality & Integrity:High levelof professional integrity sound judgement and discretion in handling HR financial and child-safety information.
- StakeholderEngagement:Strongwrittenandverbalcommunicationwiththeabilitytoengage respectfully with the Board SLT parentscontractorsand community.
