Job Summary

Summary: Under the general supervision of the Quality supervisor the Quality inspector ensures products and processes meet Cowles quality standards by inspecting production materials and processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Quarantine and troubleshoot all line reject material and assemblies.
  • Test and diagnose field returns by following the companys warranty procedures.
  • Maintain the warranty log database.
  • Incoming inspection of selected purchased material.
  • Random quality audit of residential oil burners to assess product quality.
  • In-process production line inspection as necessary.
  • First Article inspection of welding department parts prior to production startup.
  • Make suggestions for efficiency or quality improvements to production processes.
  • Recommend repairs or replacement to defective or worn assembly equipment.
  • Utilize tools like calipers gauges micrometers and electronic inspection equipment to measure and test products.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned duties as directed.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma and minimum of 1-year previous experience in a similar role.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to stand sit walk use hands to finger handle or feel;

Communication Skills:
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills particularly in English. While Spanish language skills are a plus they are not mandatory for this position. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals or technical procedures. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual should have basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
