Job Summary
Position Summary
The traveling Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating a variety of mobile heavy equipment used in mining operations. Equipment may include haul trucks loaders excavators water trucks dozers graders and other production support machinery. Operators play a critical role in maintaining production goals while adhering to strict safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy mobile equipment in a safe efficient and productive manner
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and complete required documentation
- Identify and report mechanical issues or unsafe conditions promptly
- Follow mine site safety procedures policies and MSHA regulations at all times
- Work closely with supervisors dispatch and other team members to meet daily production targets
- Maintain clean and orderly equipment cabs and work areas
- Assist with general mine site tasks as needed to support operations
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in mining quarry construction or similar industrial environments preferred
- Ability to safely operate one or more types of mobile equipment such as haul trucks loaders excavators or dozers
- MSHA certification preferred (or willingness to obtain if required)
- Strong understanding of equipment safety protocols and hazard awareness
- Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance record
- Ability to work day shift night shift weekends and overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit stand climb bend and walk for extended periods
- Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment multiple times per shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to work in dusty rugged outdoor environments
