This position involves pesticide application across large-acreage properties including golf course turf fairways greens and surrounding landscaped areas.
The Department of Enterprise Services Golf Course Division has two (2) vacancies forChemical Treatment Worker IIpositions located at Pali Golf Course and Ewa Villages Golf Course.
What You Will Do:- Measure mix and apply fertilizers herbicides insecticides and fungicides using motorized and handheld equipment.
- Survey treatment areas identify issues such as pests or diseases and determine the correct chemical applications and mixtures.
- Inspect and maintain spraying equipment and ensure chemical storage and mixing areas meet safety regulations.
- Plan and execute the courses chemical treatment schedule; stay current on agronomic products safety practices and relevant guidelines.
- Train and guide helpers in safe chemical-handling procedures and proper application methods.
- Maintain accurate usage logs and work reports.
- Other related duties as assigned for this position.
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Work may include evenings weekends and holidays; schedule may change based on job requirements.
- Involves handling chemicals lifting transporting supplies and working outdoors in varying weather.
- Must obtain a Commercial Applicator of Restricted Pesticides (Category 3) certification by the end of probation.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the care maintenance and beautification of landscaped and natural areas including the spraying and application of a variety of agricultural chemicals.
Desirable Experience:- Experience applying pesticides herbicides fungicides and fertilizers in large landscaped or turfed environments
- e.g. golf courses parks athletic fields or similar settings
Competencies & Skills Needed:- Knowledge of:
- Agricultural chemicals including safe use and application methods
- Uses and methods of operation of tractors and their proper maintenance
- Familiarity with common weeds insect pests and turf or ornamental plants
- Awareness of basic soil conditions that support healthy plant growth
- Ability to:
- Apply chemical treatments safely and accurately using appropriate tools and equipment
- Follow oral and written instructions and work effectively with others including the public
- Learn technical material and obtain required pesticide licensure during the probationary period
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:- Valid Hawaii State drivers license (Type 3) prior to appointment and
- Category 3 Ornamental and Turf Pesticide Applicators License prior to completion of probation.
- Training and preparation support for the examination will be provided during the probationary period.
The above licenses/certificates must be obtained by the time indicated and maintained on a current basis thereafter as a condition of employment.- Experience applying pesticides herbicides fungicides and fertilizers in large landscaped or turfed environments
