Job Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) is responsible for the preparation and completion of the biannual onsite audits for non-criminal agencies that receive state and federal criminal history record information for licensing and employment purposes.
Non-Criminal Justice Compliance Specialists conduct audits and prepare audit reports that contain the findings evaluations and recommendations necessary for corrective action in accordance with state and federal regulations. The position requires knowledge of the state and federal laws that govern non-criminal justice information.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Experience and commitment to providing professional customer support.
- Ability to work independently and execute job responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Ability to complete and follow self-paced instructions and training
- Good time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Knowledge of laws policies and regulations related to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network.
- Strong verbal oral and written communication skills. Must be able to facilitate understanding and insight through the skillful exchange of information with others. Must be comfortable communicating through a variety of channels including written and verbal.
- Ability to successfully complete the Georgia Peace Officer Standard Training (POST) Instructor Certification or be willing to obtain the certification upon hire.
Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences within and outside of GBI.
Must be able totravel to various counties and cities within and outside the state of Georgia.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other professionals. Must be willing to travel to various counties such as: Clarke Greene Hancock Putman Columbia Burke Emanual Evans Toombs Screven Jefferson Washington Treutlen Candler and more.
NOTE: This position requires travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia drivers license is required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the minimum qualifications preference will be given to applicants with two(2) years of working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Assisting non-criminal justice agencies with fingerprint-based background checks for employment and licensing purposes.
- Policies and regulations related to the use security and dissemination of state and federal criminal history record information.
- Federal authorities and statutes such as Public Law 92-544 National Child Protection Act/Volunteers for Children Act and Adam Walsh Act.
- The Georgia Applicant Processing Service (GAPS).
