THE ROLE
The Co-curricular Arts program is a vibrant department of the School which supports the artistic endeavours of our student cohort. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Guitar Specialist & Ensemble Director to join our Co-curricular Arts Program.
In this dual role you will provide private and/or group lessons in electric and acoustic guitar including the preparation and delivery of guitar tuition; monitor evaluate and report on student progress; prepare students for music presentations throughout the year; and maintain accurate records of student progress.
As an Ensemble Director you will direct intermediate and/or advanced ensembles in the Senior School as part of the Co-curricular Ensembles Program.
This role includes a part-time commitment for Ensemble Directing plus private tuition work and additional approved hours to support performances and events.
You will be paid directly by the School for Ensemble Director duties and engaged under a Service Agreement for specialist guitar tuition where you will invoice families directly for your time. The hourly rate for all work is $87 per hour in line with QMTA rates.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will:
- have Teaching and/or Performance qualifications in Instrumental Music (guitar) from a recognised university or college
- have demonstrated skills and experience in teaching electric and acoustic guitar to students in private and/or group situations across all age levels
- have expertise in and an ability to incorporate a range of contemporary and classical guitar techniques into individual student development
- have the ability to plan and deliver engaging instrumental lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs musical interests and varying levels of ability
- have the ability to lead and direct ensembles fostering collaboration and performance excellence
- have eligibility to work in Australia and be able to obtain a Working with Children (Blue Card) and/or registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
