The Systems / Mechanical Engineer will serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert supporting the evaluation definition design manufacture and verification of complex mechanical systems including nuclear and other highconsequence applications. This role supports both commercial and U.S. Government customers and emphasizes endtoend lifecycle executionfrom requirements development through manufacture test and validation.
The position includes responsibilities in systems engineering mechanical design thermal and structural analysis engineering trade studies subsystem integration and close collaboration with manufacturing and quality organizations. The engineer will employ ModelBased Systems Engineering (MBSE) as a disciplined approach to capturing decomposing and managing requirements defining system architectures and interfaces and maintaining endtoend traceability across the product lifecycle.
The engineer will develop manage and decompose system and subsystem requirements; establish verification and validation requirements using Test Analysis Demonstration and Inspection (TADI) methods; and prepare design and procurement specifications. The role also includes preparing technical presentations; conducting system requirements reviews design reviews manufacturing readiness reviews and test readiness reviews; and briefing customers senior and midlevel leadership and crossfunctional stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be capable of clearly communicating technical concepts and program status to engineering manufacturing test quality assurance and business office personnel and of presenting wellreasoned technical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in an accredited engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering Systems Engineering or related field)
- 512 years of relevant experience in systems engineering and/or mechanical engineering supporting complex hardware programs
- Demonstrated ability to develop manage and decompose system and subsystem requirements
- Experience developing and managing verification and validation requirements including TADI (Test Analysis Demonstration and Inspection) methods
- Experience preparing and reviewing design specifications and procurement specifications
- Ability to prepare technical presentations and conduct system requirements design manufacturing readiness and test readiness reviews
- Experience briefing customers senior and midlevel leadership and crossfunctional teams
- Experience supporting regulated safetycritical or highconsequence engineering programs
- Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and/or Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Experience working directly with engineering manufacturing test quality assurance and suppliers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience supporting commercial and/or U.S. Government customer programs
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Experience with ASME codes and/or NQA1 quality programs is a strong plus but not a requirement
- Experience using MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (plus)
- Experience with software/control system/Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) requirement development and/or design (plus)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (plus)
