Since its establishment in 1982 Alzheimers WA has served as a prominent advocate and source of support for individuals living with dementia as well as their families and caregivers. As we progress and enhance our services we are moving forward in a constructive and promising direction championing person-centred care advocacy education and comprehensive support through our Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Support at Home (SAH) packages in addition to providing day and overnight respite services across Perth Mandurah and Albany. About the Role

We are seeking Multiple Part-Time / Casual positions across Albany. Reporting directly to the House Manager Support Workers are responsible for providing high quality dementia support services to clients including building rapport with clients and improving overall quality of life through ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to provide person-centered support to people living with dementia.
  • Build rapport and provide companionship to clientele living with dementia.
  • Contribute to improving quality of life through on-going support.
  • Create an environment supportive of the wellbeing needs of people living with dementia their families and their carers.
  • Plan and commit to activities that provide opportunities to maintain skills and promote independence whilst respecting a clients personal choice.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with people living with dementia and their carers.
  • Engage in meaningful relations with people living with dementia supporting their abilities always promoting their dignity and providing reassurance and validation of their feelings.

About You

  • Must have Certificate III in Individual Support Ageing or Disability.
  • Current First Aid HLTAID011 CPR HLTAID009 and Manual Handling HLTWHS005 (with 3 months until expiry) is ideal.
  • Previous experience within the aged care or healthcare sector.
  • Working rights in Australia.
  • Must have own vehicle if attending community shifts
  • Must have or are willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
  • Must have a recent National Police Clearance (within 6 months) or are willing to obtain one
