Opportunity

e-Zinc is searching for an experienced and talented Senior Scientist Electrolyte Development to work within the Technology function on the development formation and characterization of advanced electrolytes for e-Zincs technology. You will be a key contributor to driving electrolyte innovation; scaling formulations from lab to production and collaborating closely with teams across electrode development product engineering and manufacturing. This role offers the opportunity to work at thecutting edgeof clean energy within a fast-paced collaborative environment. This position will report directly to the VP Research & Development.

PositionScope andResponsibilities

  • Lead and own the technical deliverables for cross-functional R&D projects focused on the development and characterization ofelectrolytes from technology readiness levels between 1 and 4 within a technology development framework
  • Identifyand characterize mechanismsregardingelectrolyte formulation and operation within the e-Zinc battery
  • Develop simulations to gain mechanistic insights into battery dynamics predict performance and support experimental findings
  • Be the subject matter expert on electrolyte chemistry and electrolyte fundamentals
  • Propose and develop concepts to address technical issues and meet performance targets based on scientific principles
  • Plan and execute experimental work on electrochemicalchemicaland physical characterization of electrolytes including benchtop tests and prototype testing
  • Predict and characterize electrolytebehaviourunder various conditions using thermodynamics and kinetics of the various mechanisms of operation
  • Partner with external collaborators to advance the technology and our understanding of it.
  • Work with partners to translate lab-scale formulations to production
  • Perform data analysis on test results and communicate results and conclusions in the form of presentations and reports
  • Document results and analysis in the form of written technical reports such as test and analysis reports
  • Collaborate across functions to progress the technology and the integration into the product
  • Work in cross-functional teams to solve technical issues at various stages of development and support development in areas such as electrodes and advanced cell
  • Contribute to e-Zincs intellectual property portfolio through the creation of patent applications and trade secrets
  • Mentorship of other e-Zinc staff fostering a high-performing and solution-oriented culture
  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of aMasters degree in chemistry materials science or related field plus7years of industrial work experienceinrelevant fields.
  • Proven experience developing commerciallyviablebattery electrolytes such as zinc or lithium battery electrolytes.
  • Expert-level understanding and experience in electrochemistry reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in simulation software (COMSOL)
  • In-depth knowledge of characterization methods for electrolytes and electrodes for electrochemical energy storage devices.
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to interpret complex chemical and electrochemical data.
  • Excellent time management communication and organizational skills
  • A self-starter and adaptive learner. Motivated to strive and succeed in a start-up environment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

AdditionalAssets:

  • Experience in aqueous zinc electrochemistry is considered a strong asset.
  • A PhD with a focus on electrochemical energy storage or fuel cell systems

Compensation & Total Rewards:

The expected annual salary range for this role is 105000-125000.Final compensation will bedeterminedbased on the candidates skills experience and overall fit for the position.
