GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) is a state-operated residential and treatment campus in Lander. We operate a Skilled Nursing Facility and an Intermediate Care Facility for residents with intellectual disabilities brain injuries and mental health challenges.
This position focuses on long-term functional mobility. Because we are a state facility our therapists work without insurance billing quotas allowing for a primary focus on resident progress and equipment needs. You will work on a multidisciplinary team to manage a consistent caseload in a modern clinical setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Acts as an active member of an interdisciplinary team for a caseload of residents.
- Performs therapeutic evaluations of residents to include but not limited to the evaluation of assistive and adaptive devices environmental barriers ergonomics body mechanics gait locomotion and balance motor function muscle control etc.
- Provide assessments document intervention plans and track progress.
- Evaluate each individual on the caseload on an ongoing basis and develop and implement therapeutic treatment programs based on evaluation findings.
- Provide therapeutic activities that will improve daily living skills vocational skills and leisure skills and enhance functional performance.
- Evaluate individual needs for therapeutic adaptive equipment and assist in the design and/or purchase. Train and monitor its use.
- Monitor equipment for repair modifications replacement or discontinuation.
- Train educate and monitor staff in therapeutic skills and activities that support the established intervention plan.
- Consult with medical providers family members case managers and direct care staff regarding resident needs.
- Assist in the design and implementation of specific therapeutic programs such as aquatic therapy.
- Train staff in safe handling and positioning of clients.
- In conjunction with medical providers designate individuals to be seen at specialty orthotic clinics. Consult with orthotics and monitor orthotic use. Recommend and obtain modified footwear to meet individual needs and assist in getting repairs to footwear as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of physical therapy practice principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of human anatomy kinesiology physiology and neurology related to neuromuscular and musculoskeletal function and disability seating systems ambulation aides and a variety of therapeutic equipment.
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques.
- Knowledge of treatment hazards and precautionary measures.
- Ability to write assessments job aides and guidelines and the ability to teach and train others.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to conduct work activities in a self-motivated and disciplined manner.
- Skills in verbal and written communication and the ability to communicate in a positive manner with residents staff families guardians and the public.
- Ability to use a computer and applicable software applications.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform basic First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques.
- Ability to work with and around WLRC residents including those who may display challenging behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Physical Therapy)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Physical Therapy)
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of Wyoming as a Physical Therapist.
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to safely move (twisting bending kneeling pushing pulling) position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
- Ability to monitor sounds noises location of clients order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
- Ability to use behavior management techniques and intervene during resident behavior episodes.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Exempt
- The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration and if necessary the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employees Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. Please note that we do not use this information to pre-screen job applicants.
- A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation Department of Family Services and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
