This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health C. M. Tucker Roddey Pavilion 2200 Harden Street Columbia SC 29203.
As the Equipment Operator III under general supervision of the Vehicle Management supervisor you will transport clients staff and other authorized personnel locally and statewide to support the OMH mission.
Responsibilities for the Driver / Equipment Operator III:
- Transport clients staff authorized personnel and other items locally and statewide. Maintain daily vehicle utilization records.
- Maintain protection and accountability of all transported items using chain of custody forms and procedures.
- Perform and document vehicle pre-trip/post-trip inspections. Comply with Vehicle Management established policies and procedures.
- Perform dispatch duties process transportation requests and coordinate daily transportation requests.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years driving experience. One (1) year without a moving violation no more than one (1) motor vehicle accident/incident regardless of fault and no suspensions within the last three years.
- Experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment.
- A valid South Carolina drivers license.
Additional Requirements- Ability to sit stand squat kneel and climb steps unassisted and lift 35lbs.

Post hire employee must:
- Have considerable knowledge of South Carolina traffic laws and regulations.
- Be able to read maps written directions and safely operate a variety of vehicles.
- Be able to work evenings nights and weekends as needed. Employee in this position is considered essential personnel and must be willing to work holidays on rotation and on-call during periods of inclement weather.
