SALARY
All new hires will be placed at the starting salary step of this classification ($28.04). Employees are eligible for a step increase on their anniversary date each year up to the maximum step 5 of this salary range ($34.17).
JOB SUMMARY
This position works 3.5 hours per day Monday-Friday 10.5 months per year. Under general supervision performs a wide variety of complex and technical clerical work requiring specialized knowledge of the state preschool program and involving frequent and responsible public contacts with parents enrolling their children in the program; and performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Provides and presents State Preschool Program information to others and translates and interprets application forms for parents as needed.
- Responds to parents inquiries regarding State Preschool Program information and requirements.
- Arranges appointments with parents to provide them with forms determines program enrollment eligibility based on state requirements and assists them in the completion of registration information; interprets a wide variety of financial and legal documents to determine eligibility.
- Enrolls preschoolers into the State Preschool Program.
- Participates in recruiting parents to attract new preschool enrollments including attending evening events.
- Creates tracks completes and maintains documents and records related to the State Preschool Program including immunization emergency legal medical and income records and other information; assures confidentiality of records.
- Attends parent meetings with other staff to interpret and take notes regarding students behavioral plans and follows-up with parents on students progress.
- Interprets in large parent orientation and informational meetings and provides additional support to parents after meetings as needed.
- Refers parents to community resources.
- Assists staff with translations for parents in the designated world language orally and in writing.
- Attends professional development workshops and trainings.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent; and two years of progressively responsible clerical experience preferably in a school district environment are required. Part-time experience will be considered and adjusted appropriately. Any other combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required skills knowledge and abilities may be considered.
SPECIAL NOTE:This position requires fluency in speaking reading and writing in both English and Spanish.
LICENSE: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver License and remain insurable at the standard insurance rate.
Knowledge of:- Correct English and designated world language usage including spelling punctuation and grammar.

- Operate computers and other standard office equipment and software effectively.
- Maintain accurate office records.
SELECTION PROCEDURES

The district reserves the right to invite applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the requirements needed for the position to continue in the examination process. The examination may consist of an evaluation of training and experience multiple choice performance and oral/technical exams.
