This position is responsible for the receipt evaluation and processing of applications and/or documentation prepare case files for amendments or additions to vital records; also receive evaluate and prepare documentation and certify applications to change/add the fathers name do name changes and record adoptions and foreign births to a Michigan birth record. This position would also do corrections to death records. This position may also be required to process Delayed Registration of Michigan Birth & Death applications. These applications will have to be approved by Supervision Management & the Fraud Unit. These preparations are conducted in accordance with the Michigan Compiled Laws. This position is also responsible for disseminating information to state federal local circuit and family court offices as well as the public relative to the change and creation of vital records and related vital record regulations. The changes amendments and additions are generated through the use of VERA the Birth Registry System (BRS) the Central Paternity Registry (CPR) and various PC applications.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelors degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelors degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Additional Requirements and Information
Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 333 South Grand Avenue Lansing MI 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense including:
- A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
- A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
- Suitable lighting furniture and utilities.
