English Teaching Role in a Coastal Secondary School
A secondary school in Middlesbrough is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that is committed to improving literacy raising attainment and supporting student progress across all year groups.

About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 delivering lessons in both English Language and English Literature.
Students will study a range of prose poetry drama and non-fiction texts while developing analytical thinking written communication and interpretation skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE English examinations supporting them in developing exam technique and confidence in extended writing.
Depending on experience there may be opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 teaching.
You will work collaboratively within the department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English across KS3 and KS4
Deliver lessons in English Language and Literature
Prepare students for GCSE English examinations
Assess student work and provide structured feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources
Promote literacy and independent reading
Support enrichment activities such as reading clubs or theatre visits

Essential Requirements
