Advanced Metals Machining is a precision metal component manufacturer serving aerospace defense satellite optical and commercial industries looking to add a dedicated and detail-oriented Shop Supervisor to our growing team.
Job Purpose:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage the day-to-day operations of the production floor ensuring that work is done efficiently and safely and that the final product meets quality standards. (This is a hands-on leadership role. The Shop Supervisor is expected to actively participate in shop operations while leading and supporting the team.)
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily work of production staff assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Perform day to day shop work alongside team members.
- Reviews and stays cognizant of the production schedule in order to prepare and produce programs in a timely manner to prevent delays.
- Assist in setup of jobs on applicable machinery when needed.
- Review part requirements and verify material is in stock.
- Ensuring that products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Enforcing health and safety policies and ensuring the work environment is clean and safe.
- Provide training and ongoing support for employees.
- Collaborating with other departments and communicating with the production team and upper management.
- Analize production data to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Evaluate employee performance provide feedback conduct performance reviews and address performance issues or conflicts as needed.
- Track and report on production metrics.
- Approximately 60-70% hands-on production and 30-40% supervisory duties.
Skills/Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelors degree (preferred) in Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering Operations Management or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in both technical shop work and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of production processes machinery and technologies used on the shop floor.
- Knowledge of quality standards inspection techniques and how to implement and enforce quality control measures.
- Thorough understanding of workplace safety standards.
- Excellent organization communication leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production issues identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to write reports legibly and accurately.
- Ability to calculate and verify measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings specifications and blueprints.
Physical Requirements
While performing the responsibilities of the Shop Supervisor job the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit/stand for extended time periods. The employee is required to stand walk reach with arms and hands climb or balance and to stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Second Shift 4:00PM - 2:30AM
Monday - Thursday
15% Pay Differential
(Training will be completed during first shift 6:00AM - 4:30PM)
