Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC isseeking an experienced Medical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dedicated oncology care team in Hilo Hawaii. The ideal candidate will have strong chemotherapy administration experience infusion therapy expertise and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced oncology environment.
This role requires excellent patient education skills proficiency with central line management and strong knowledge of chemotherapy safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently administer chemotherapy immunotherapy targeted therapy and hormonal/non-hormonal injections according to provider orders
- Access and maintain Port-a-Caths PICC lines and Hickman catheters
- Perform venipuncture dressing changes and laboratory specimen collection via central lines
- Monitor patients during IV therapies and document responses accurately in the EMR
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records related to treatments medications and patient conditions
- Notify oncology providers of unusual patient occurrences and initiate emergency interventions when necessary
- Educate patients families and caregivers regarding medications side effects treatment expectations nutrition and disease processes
- Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration
- Follow proper handling administration and disposal procedures for hazardous medications while using appropriate PPE
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols infection control standards and facility policies
- Perform additional clinical duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Recent Medical Oncology RN experience required
- Strong chemotherapy administration experience required
- Experience with Port-a-Caths PICC lines and Hickman catheters required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Strong patient education and communication skills required
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced oncology setting
