Summary:
The Technician Pest Control will perform skilled work in the operation of pest control in or around all district buildings and facilities. This is a non-OTETA (Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act) position.

Responsibilities:
Performs skilled work in the operation of fogging and larviciding automotive equipment in mosquito control operations or similar equipment utilized for the control of hyacinth or other noxious weeds.
Performs skilled work in procedures relating to spraying or chemical placement for various pest control in or around district buildings or facilities.
Operates vehicles and mounted fogging equipment to spray chemical insecticides into the air or onto prescribed areas.
Operates vehicles and mounted larviciding equipment to spray an effected area or spray oil on water areas.
Mixes insecticides in preparation for larviciding and fogging machines or for control of noxious weeds and various pest in or around district buildings or facilities.
Determines equipment tools and performs calculations for materials necessary to complete assigned duties.
Coordinates projects and tasks with school staff as applicable informs site personnel of what materials to remove from surfaces and schedule the move of students to separate locations.
Maintains timely and accurate information regarding inventory records of assigned service vehicle tools and equipment.
Moves places and provides safe operation of ladders and general work habits.
Requires a general understanding of miscellaneous maintenance tools and their basic use and operation in a safe manner consistent with current district and OSHA regulations.
Prepares files and submits daily weekly and/or monthly operational reports as required by the district and/or governing jurisdictions.
Applies preventative pest control materials/treatments within district buildings along a prescribed route.
Applies treatments to the exterior building perimeter for soil-borne insects.
Sprays/removes exterior bee or spider nests along building overhangs eaves or playground areas.
Responds to work order requests to treat facilities for insect infestations in a timely and thorough manner.
Adheres to principles and practices of safe use including but not limited to operation of equipment tools materials and district-owned vehicles including maintenance of such equipment and tools.
Performs clean up and work site restoration activities to include pick up excess materials clean flooring rearrange furniture and wipe down surfaces.
Responds to emergency call-outs after hours including overseeing the application of after-hours termite treatments.
Attends safety and other related training required by the district to keep abreast of current technology relevant to all essential duties.
Performs any other duties as assigned.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Requires Limited Structural Pest Control Certification and/or Limited Lawn and Ornamental Certification for Pest Control. Required to obtain both certifications within 90 days of hire date. Must possess a Class E drivers license and comply with districts Safe Driver Plan. Must pass districts Respirator Fitness testing requirement.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Standing walking sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching bending crawling handling keyboarding fingering feeling talking hearing depth perception color vision and field of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Extreme cold extreme heat wet/humid noise intensity 4 loud work with cleaning chemicals wear eye protection vibration/impact work with or near heavy equipment proximity to moving mechanical parts exposure to electrical shock and working in high exposed places.
