Title: Travel RN Labor & Delivery / Mother Baby
Department: Maternity Newborn Unit
Type: 13-Week Travel Contract
Schedule: 3x12 Mid Shift 3:00 PM 3:00 AM Every Other Weekend Call Required
Start Date: June 8 2026
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Travel RN specializing in Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby care for a 13-week contract assignment. The RN will provide comprehensive maternal-newborn nursing care in a community hospital setting supporting antepartum labor & delivery postpartum and newborn care. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment floating as needed taking call and caring for COVID patients when required.
This is a tobacco-free and fragrance-free facility. Travelers should be informed prior to submission.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for Labor & Delivery Mother/Baby postpartum and newborn patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using EFM and fetal monitoring systems
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate/recover C-sections
- Perform newborn assessments APGAR scoring neonatal resuscitation and thermoregulation
- Administer medications including Pitocin Magnesium Sulfate antihypertensives insulin drips and anticoagulants
- Manage postpartum recovery including fundus/lochia assessment breastfeeding support incision care and couplet care
- Start and maintain IVs central lines infusion pumps and perform phlebotomy
- Support patients with high-risk OB conditions including pre-eclampsia HELLP syndrome preterm labor placenta previa VBACs and multiple gestations
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols including care for COVID-positive patients
- Participate in call rotation floating assignments and every-other-weekend coverage
- Utilize Epic EMR for charting and documentation
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery / Mother Baby RN experience
- Recent travel assignment experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Every other weekend required
- Call required
- Maximum 7 days RTO allowed
- Manager interview required
- Clinical prescreen required prior to manager review
Qualifications Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Experience in Mother/Baby postpartum antepartum and newborn care required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Experience with low-risk OB and community hospital settings required
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
License:
- Active RN License
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- NRP required
- AWHONN Intermediate required
- AWHONN Advanced preferred
