ELECTRICAL SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER Greenville SC

JOB SUMMARY:

The Electrical Senior Design Engineer provides advanced engineering expertise and leadership on complex electrical projects. This role serves as an Area Lead for electrical engineering ensuring technical accuracy quality and compliance across all phases of project execution within a multi-discipline environment.

The position performs engineering assignments of advanced complexity while supporting project execution technical coordination and discipline leadership.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electrical Senior Design Engineer performs advanced electrical engineering work and leads assigned project areas to ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities include analyzing complex technical problems and developing effective engineering solutions. The role develops and reviews specifications engineering calculations and design criteria for electrical systems.

The engineer coordinates closely with project management engineering disciplines vendors subcontractors and clients to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.

Additional responsibilities include supporting procurement activities such as preparation of scopes of work evaluation of vendor bids and review of vendor submittals. The role also supports construction phases by responding to RFIs addressing field changes and ensuring design integrity during execution.

The position contributes to project planning by developing estimates schedules progress reports and forecasts while ensuring compliance with approved project scope cost and schedule baselines.

WORK HOURS:

A standard 40-hour work week is expected. Additional schedule details will be provided by the client. Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required.

Experience / Skills:

  • Minimum ten (10) years of related electrical engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and design practices
  • Experience supporting industrial or EPC projects
  • Strong knowledge of federal state and local codes and standards including DOE requirements
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams

Candidate must possess experience with:

  • Electrical system design including power distribution lighting grounding and raceways
  • Engineering calculations such as short circuit analysis relay coordination and voltage drop
  • Development of electrical design documents and specifications
  • 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools in multi-discipline environments

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable codes standards and project requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience supporting DOE or Federal Government projects
  • Nuclear facility experience under NQA-1 requirements
  • Experience leading engineering scope on large projects
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as ETAP or SmartPlant Electrical
  • Experience in industrial nuclear manufacturing or similar regulated environments
