Physical Education Teacher

Title: TEACHER Physical Education Art or Music

Minimum Qualifications:

• Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Teachers in grades 6-8 must have Middle School Endorsement in Content Area

Accountable to:

• Building Administrators

Primary Objective:

• Instructs students in physical education art or music activities in educational institution by performing the following duties.

Major Areas of Accountability*:

• Plans physical education art or music program to promote development of students physical attributes social skills and life-long activity skills.
• Teaches individuals utilizing knowledge of sports art or music techniques.
• Organizes leads instructs physical games art activities or music performances.
• Teaches and demonstrates the use of equipment related to physical education art or music.
• Confers with students parents and school counselor to resolve student problems.
• Selects stores orders issues and inventories equipment materials and supplies used in physical education art or music program.
• Supervises classroom students and volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bending carrying climbing must be able to travel between job sites lifting pushing-pulling reaching sitting standing and walking.
• Must be able to occasionally lift move or push items of 50 lbs such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
• Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
• Must have Adaptive Physical Education Approval if a Physical Education Endorsement is

Working Conditions:

• Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
• Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
