Parent Engagement CoordinatorOffice of Institutional Advancement:
Position Summary
As a key member of the Office of Institutional Advancement reporting directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement the Parent Engagement Coordinator serves as a liaison between Berkeleys Parents Association and the school. All parents are members of the Parents Association which is led by a board of parent volunteers from all three school divisions.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-centered professional who thrives in a dynamic school community and enjoys working closely with parents and volunteers. This individual must be both warm and approachable while also possessing the confidence and organizational skills necessary to manage complex volunteer initiatives and navigate a community with many enthusiastic ideas and perspectives. The Parent Engagement Coordinator should be skilled at building strong partnerships establishing clear processes and ensuring parent involvement aligns with the mission and priorities of the school.
The Parent Engagement Coordinator works directly with the Parents Association Board which oversees a variety of volunteer roles to provide engagement opportunities. The Parent Engagement Coordinator develops and implements programs for volunteer training and works closely with faculty staff and parents to plan organize and coordinate events.
The position will build upon a robust existing program and further expand parent volunteer engagement for Berkeley.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Advancement team faculty staff and parents regarding Parents Association events
- Oversee various volunteer opportunities for Berkeley parents including a variety of events programs and service opportunities
- Work closely with Parents Association on their BUC BASH fundraiser event which is held every other year to support school-wide initiatives and Parents Association events
- Manage volunteer relationships including the Parents Association Board and its committees
- Participate in various parent engagement opportunities as needed in addition to Parents Association events
- Advise and provide support to the Parents Association President throughout the school year to guide their leadership of the organization
- Work closely with the Parents Association Treasurer and Business Office regarding all budgets receipts expenses and financial reports
- Identify recruit train manage and provide recognition for committee leadership event volunteers and others
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Confident communicator who can engage diplomatically with a wide range of personalities
- Volunteer management and event coordination preferred
- Knowledge of fundraising culture
- Possesses the ability to interact in a pleasant and professional manner while establishing clear expectations boundaries and processes with all constituents
- Ability to multitask meet deadlines and work independently with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong teamwork ethic
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to motivate appreciate and retain volunteers while channeling volunteer energy and ideas into productive mission-aligned outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products to include MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
- Preference to previous database and Google suite experience
Compensation and Benefits
The appointment will begin August 1 and is a part-time 10-month position. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience degree attainment and the national independent school and college markets.
