Data generated by the Genomics Platform has enabled a wide range of applications from variant discovery to delivery of polygenic risk scores and clinical diagnoses and contributed knowledge to a wide array of fields from rare disease research to population genomics from cancer clinical trials to understanding cell circuitry.
We are expanding our team to support constantly evolving initiatives at our new state-of-the-art facility located at 27 Blue Sky Drive in Burlington MA.
TheClinical Laboratory Process Development Technician (PDT)will be vital in meeting production goals within our high-throughput diagnostics laboratory. This role involves carrying out innovative high-throughput lab processes and may also include supporting diagnostic testing. Functioning as the regulatory equivalent of clinical laboratory technical personnel PDTs will perform clinical laboratory procedures appropriate for their education training and technical abilities operating under the direct supervision of supervisors and qualified technologists (Product Development Associates). Each PDT is authorized by the Laboratory Director to perform only those high-complexity tests that require a degree of skill commensurate with their individual qualifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assembly of participant collection kits. Conduct the send-out process for kits including label scanning and association to participants and order fulfillment to patients or project sites. Perform daily checks of order queues across multiple systems to determine prioritization and fulfillment needs. Work collaboratively with the kitting team to prioritize and distribute tasks.
Operate in a fast-paced highly repetitive environment. Shipping workflows include both automated and manual processes: some orders involve printing barcodes through internal systems associating them generating shipping labels and staging packages at the dock by end of day; others require manual label creation.
Assist in evaluating and tracking inventory levels placing new orders as needed and supporting biological sample returns to collaborators and project sites. Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and optimize lab workflows.
Support of laboratory processes managed by the operational team
Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.
Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Correct the problems according to procedures or immediately notify the General Supervisor Technical Supervisor Clinical Consultant or Laboratory Director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
Follow standard operating procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in Biology or Chemistry. (Please be prepared to provide a copy of the diploma and transcripts upon request).
Working solid knowledge of primary biological and laboratory science principles required.
Recent (within the last year) undergraduate or entry level laboratory experience with the use of standard lab equipment such as pipettes and centrifuges required
Required Skills and Attributes:
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving abilities coupled with an innovative aptitude.
Excellent written and oral communication skills strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Must possess exceptional attention to detail strong organizational skills and the capacity to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency with computers databases and working within Windows/Mac operating environments is essential.
Must be able to thrive in a demanding fast-paced work environment.
