Counseling & Wellness Services at Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking a full time bilingual Spanish-speaking Counselor who will report to the Dean of Counseling Services & Student Wellness. The Counseling Center supports PCCs diverse student populations through direct service mental health prevention and intervention programming responsive and crisis services psychoeducation and advocacy with an anti-racist and social justice lens. Our teams work with the many intersecting marginalized identities of our student communities to provide support and resources for a successful collegiate career at PCC and beyond. This centers services are essential to the colleges effort to advance educational equity create an inclusive and psychologically sound campus climate and promote strong student engagement.

This full time Counselor position involves providing mental health services classroom outreach counseling groups psychoeducational workshops and other duties typical of a college-based counselor. PCC counselors guide students in meeting their respective educational personal social and vocational goals using judgment consistent with standards of the licensing boards and state and federal guidelines and based upon adequate knowledge of counseling practices methods techniques interpersonal relationships and community resources. Counselors provide prevention outreach and intervention services and participate in committees and/or college service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree (or higher) in Counseling Counseling Psychology Clinical Psychology Clinical Social Work or related area required (degree must be from an accredited institution).

500 hours of experience providing academic personal and/or career counseling. Practicum and Internship(s) experience may be counted.

Active unrestricted professional practice license or ability to register as a professional associate prior to employment start date.

Language proficiency in Spanish/English.

Success Criteria: These qualifications skills and abilities are critical for success in this position:

- Experience working in a counseling center or similar setting.

- A clear and working understanding of issues of immigration social justice racism oppression and bias and the subsequent impact of these phenomena on students and mental health

- Skills and training specifically focused on supporting the needs of students of color students from indigenous communities LGBTQIA* students international students students from diverse religious affiliations mixed-status students students with disabilities first generation college students and/or military veterans on a college campus

- Ability to provide clinical services in Spanish with a culturally-specific lens and approach

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.

How We Determine Initial Salary Placement

Additional Job Description:

Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($75389) and Step 3 ($79976) based on related experience per PCCs collective bargaining agreement. Placement at a higher step may be possible based upon additional experience and internal equity. The highest step of the range is step 17 ($120929) Please review the salary schedule here.
