Painter Coating and Lining

POSITIONSUMMARY

ThePainter(interior linings and coatings experience a must) is responsible forthe set-upoperationand maintenance ofpaintmachines.ThePainterwilloperatethe equipmentaccording tothe specificmanufacturingstandardsto meetcustomer specifications.ThePaintermust be able to read and understandwork orders.Theymust followall company guidelinesandsafety rules when performing duties.

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include but are not limited to:

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS

• Proficient in preparing spray guns and nozzles required by paint typein order toget the proper paint flow and coating thickness.

• Able to select the correct spray gun system for the material being applied.

• Selects paint according to company requirements and match colors of paint following specified color charts and verifies paint consistency using a viscosity meter.

• Operateslifting and moving devicesin order tomove equipment or materials so that areas to be painted are accessible.

• Sets up portable equipment such as ventilators exhaust units ladders and scaffolding.

• Ability tospray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers or finish coatings.

• Monitorspainting operationsin order toidentifyflaws such as blisters and streaks so that their causes can be corrected.

• Able to disassemble clean and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents wire brushes and cloths for cleaning duties.

• Disposesof hazardous waste inan appropriate manner.

• Maintain a clean workspace and follow tooling requirements.

• Other duties and projects as assigned by theRepair Manager RepairSupervisoror Team Leader.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma orGED.

• Ability toread andcomprehendwork orders.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Dependable.Meets standards of punctualityandattendance.

• Mechanically inclined andwillingnessto learn different tasks.

• Complies withall safety rules and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limitedto;eye safety glasses workbootsand the ability to wear a respirator.

• The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing lifting balancing walkingstoopingand handling of materials for more than 50% of the workday.

• Ability to lift 50 poundssafely and able to drag blast hose over full length of the railcar.

• Working around heavy moving equipmentwithintermittent exposure to vibration when using impact tools.

• Visual color discrimination.The ability to match or detect differences between colors including shades of color and brightness.

• Near vision (ability to see details at close range).

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Work inelevated heightsand confinedspaces.Able to navigate scaffolds floorsladdersand walking surfaces that are uneven.

• Use of respirator as.

• The ability to sustain mental and visual attention to details for sustained periods of time.

WORK SITE ENVIRONMENT

• Mustcomply withall safety requirements at all timesand lead by exampleregardingsafety.

• Primary work environmentsubjectto extreme heat or cold for considerable amounts of time.Mustdress accordingly.

• Hearing protection shall be required in certain designated areas to noise levels greater than 80 decibels.

• Scaffolds floorsladdersand walking surfaces may be uneven.
