Responsibilities
The SIU Investigative Analyst is responsible for delivering investigative services that assist the Berkley organization. This role prioritizes supporting internal customers by providing timely accurate and actionable intelligence through deep-dive research background checks and link analysis. Additionally the analyst contributes to major case activity within the Special Investigative Unit by uncovering connections patterns and potential fraud indicators using open-source intelligence (OSINT) platforms and link analysis tools. This position plays a critical role in supporting the organizations anti-fraud efforts by proactively identifying potential fraud indicators through comprehensive research and analysis.
Key Functions/Duties of Position:
Serve as a primary resource for the Berkley organization by providing investigative support for claims and policy handling.
Conduct comprehensive background investigations on individuals and entities using public records social media and other open-source platforms.
Utilize OSINT tools and link analysis software to identify relationships and patterns relevant to fraud detection.
Analyze and synthesize complex data sets to develop investigative leads and actionable intelligence.
Exercise sound judgment and decision-making capability when defining research focus areas selecting appropriate methods and validating findings to ensure accuracy and compliance while applying investigative judgment in analyzing patterns and relationships to determine which connections warrant deeper inquiry and choosing the most effective strategies to uncover potential fraud.
Prepare detailed accurate and timely reports summarizing findings for internal customers and SIU leadership.
Support major case investigations by providing foundational research and link analysis.
Maintain strict adherence to privacy regulations compliance requirements and company policies.
Collaborate with SIU investigators and other internal stakeholders to support case strategy and development.
Stay current on emerging technologies investigative methodologies and fraud trends.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
Bachelors degree required advanced degree or specialized training in intelligence analysis criminal justice or related field preferred.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of investigative experience preferably in insurance fraud law enforcement or intelligence analysis.
Proficiency in OSINT tools commonly used for fraud detection such as TLOxp CLEAR Accurint Tracers and social media monitoring platforms as well as link analysis tools like IBM i2 Analysts Notebook and/or Netmap.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Knowledge of insurance claims processes and fraud indicators.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear concise and actionable reports.
High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with MS Office and investigative software applications.
Preferred Certifications: OSINT-focused certifications for fraud investigations such as Certified OSINT Professional (COSINT) Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and/or Fraud Claims Law Specialist (FCLS).
