Job Summary
The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. Faculty Associates and Academic Associates are part-time appointments who are hired on one-semester renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester either in person or online.
Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits sabbaticals or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates and Academic Associates may not hold multiple non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.
For this position we seek a pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person courses on ASUs Downtown Phoenix or Tempe campus or online.

The School of Community Resources and Development is one of the four schools in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions. Watts College has a student body of over 6747 undergraduate and graduate students. SCRD is located at ASUs Downtown Phoenix campus a dynamic hub of the multi-campus Arizona State University that provides a multitude of academic and professional connections for students. We provide internationally recognized interdisciplinary research expertise and innovative academic programs in community development recreational therapy nonprofit leadership and management parks recreation and sport management and tourism development and management. Courses are delivered through in-person online and hybrid platforms and have been taught multiple times with a well-defined syllabus outlining purpose content readings and assignments.
Essential Duties:
- Teach courses as assigned.
- Deliver engaging in-person (and/or online) lectures discussions and content.
- Contribute to the creation of assignments and exams.
- Evaluate and grade student work according to rubrics.
- Manage Canvas learning management platform and hold office hours to assist students.
- Applicants should be comfortable with technology; enjoy the idea of educating students in a higher education environment and bring demonstrated evidence of a strong appetite and success for teaching leading learning.

Required Qualifications
- An earned masters degree in tourism hospitality event management parks recreation sport management or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
- Three years of related experience (prior teaching and/or practitioner experience that involves developing and/or providing training and development workshops/courses to adult learners).
- Consistent with ASUs Charter a demonstrated commitment to inclusion.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in tourism hospitality events or similar fields especially in leadership capacities.
- Prior higher education/adult teaching guest lecturing and/or training experiences online or in-person.
- Evidence of effective collaboration skills.
- Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
