Job Title:

Instrument Technician

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking a skilled professional to ensure that all instrumentation control systems visualization and information management processes operate optimally and remain aligned with operational and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the maintenance management and optimization of all instrumentation control systems SCADA visuals industrial networking and production information management across all sites.
Manage requests from various stakeholders to ensure systems remain optimal and fit for purpose in line with world-class manufacturing standards.
Oversee critical spares requirements for all electronics and instrumentation.
Initiate and drive innovation and process improvements through continuous improvement initiatives and larger-scale projects.
Manage and negotiate with external suppliers to ensure cost-effective instrumentation and control solutions.
Ensure production and equipment data is accurate accessible and available when required.
Implement best-in-class strategies to reduce costs and continuously improve processes.
Apply Root Cause Analysis and related problem-solving techniques to address system and process issues.
Integrate and execute best practices to enhance engineering services based on ongoing analysis.
Stay up to date with industry trends through continuous learning and benchmarking to maintain high standards.
Prepare and deliver regular performance presentations to senior management along with actionable improvement plans.

Qualifications and Skills Needed:

Diploma in Mechatronic or Electronic Engineering.
510 years experience in a manufacturing environment with strong exposure to instrumentation PLCs SCADA systems and data historians.
Proven experience in instrumentation installation configuration calibration and validation.
Strong working knowledge of AS-i IO-Link Profinet Siemens TIA Portal VSDs Ignition SCADA and SAP.
Ability to compile and interpret P&IDs and wiring diagrams; familiarity with EPLAN is advantageous.
Solid understanding of industrial networks and cybersecurity principles.
Experience developing Functional Description Specifications (FDS) based on requirements.
Familiar with ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards including implementation and troubleshooting.
Strong analytical skills with a cross-functional mindset.
International outlook with the ability to adapt and implement solutions within a South African plant environment.
Strong communication skills with fluency in English.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail.
