The Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to leverage software development automation and data transformation & pipelining principles to contribute to a team tasked with enhancing our insurance policy administration technology applications and processes. The job includes adding support for new insurance products as well as streamlining existing workflows. Prior experience in insurance policy administration systems modern web technologies cloud architecture (AWS) and event driven architecture is preferred.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on outcome-driven engineer who can take ownership propose and implement solutions drive best practices and work collaboratively across multiple teams.

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology Data Science & Analytics or a related field
• 8 years of experience in data engineering role(s)
• Expertise in relational databases (SQL Postgres Oracle)
• Advanced SQL (data querying manipulation complex queries)
• Hands-on Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka/SQS producers & consumers)
• AWS Cloud Experience (especially AWS Lambda / serverless)
  

• Strong hands-on experience with event-driven architecture including asynchronous decoupled systems
• Experience with event and messaging frameworks (AWS SQS Apache Kafka ActiveMQ)
• Experience designing event producers and consumers including:
  • message routing
  • retries
  • error handling
  • durability
  • idempotent processing
• Experience leveraging event-driven workflows for:
  • data ingestion
  • data transformation
  • system integrations

• Experience with AWS cloud technology:
  • Lambda
  • EC2
  • S3
  • RDS
  • API Gateway
  • CloudFormation
  • Event Bridge
  • SQS
• Experience with ETL tooling (preferably Informatica)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code:
  • Terraform
  • Cloud Formation

• Working knowledge of microservices and RESTful APIs
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Familiarity with Java

• Experience in insurance policy administration software ecosystems

  • Claims processing

• High level of team engagement and willingness to learn and contribute beyond core responsibilities
• Strong ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders
