Role: Senior Security Engineer

Location: Remote during contract once the position got converted 5 days onsite in Omaha Nebraska; Milwaukee Wisconsin; Alpharetta Georgia; Kansas City Missouri; Columbus Ohio; or Berkeley Heights New Jersey

Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: $70-$75/hr W2

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Security Engineer to join our infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise with Cisco Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls and advanced troubleshooting skills. A strong grasp of NAT/PAT configuration and the ability to support customer requests and understand possible affected network devices are critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop Method of Procedure for change activities in the enterprise network and security infrastructure using Palo Alto technologies.
• Understand support and troubleshoot routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF BGP EIGRP).
• Configure support and troubleshoot NAT (Network Address Translation) PAT (Port Address Translation) and policies across firewalls.
• Support post-change activities in Palo Alto Next-Gen and CheckPoint Firewalls Panorama ensuring effective security policy enforcement threat prevention and traffic inspection.
• Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting across all layers (network to application) to resolve security availability and performance issues.
• Develop and leverage automation tools/scripts to streamline post-change validation monitoring and reporting.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (infrastructure application and security operations) to ensure smooth transitions and minimal risk during changes.

Required Qualifications:

• Palo Alto PCNSE certification (or equivalent security certification).
• 5 years of experience in enterprise security or network engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of NAT/PAT configuration and troubleshooting including use cases for internet access internal routing and firewall rules.
• Proficiency with Cisco routers switches VPNs and QoS.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall Cisco ASA and Checkpoint security and NAT policies.
• Ability to create professional security and network documentation using Visio and Lucidchart.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
