Job Summary

The AVP Financial Regulation Strategy and Federal Affairs for Government Relations will serve as Nasdaqs principal representative to US federal and state policymakers regulators and industry associations. This leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy focused on building relationships with financial regulators and supporting all of Nasdaqs business objectives- protects its license to operate and advances the companys position on key policy issues impacting the capital markets listed companies investors and financial technology.

As a senior leader at Nasdaq you will be accountable for shaping and executing strategies that advance our position as a global technology company powering markets and economies. This role requires a proven ability to set direction influence across borders and deliver measurable business impact in complex regulated environments.

This highly visible role requires a seasoned policy executive who can navigate complex legislative and regulatory environments build trusted relationships across political and industry lines and communicate Nasdaqs perspectives with credibility and authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Help implement a proactive US government relations strategy aligned with Nasdaqs corporate priorities and long-term growth agenda.
  • Policy Advocacy: Engage with Congress Federal Reserve FDIC OCC CFTC Treasury and other regulatory agencies on matters affecting financial crime bank regulatory reporting securities and digital asset market structure listings technology data and innovation policy.
  • Relationship Management: Build and sustain bipartisan relationships with policymakers regulators trade associations think tanks and peer organizations to shape the policy dialogue.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Nasdaq in external forums industry coalitions and public policy initiatives to advance the companys reputation as a responsible and forward-thinking market operator.
  • Crisis and Issues Management: Provide counsel and rapid-response support on sensitive political or regulatory developments that could impact Nasdaqs business or stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Government Affairs Experience: 7 years of experience in government affairs public policy or regulatory strategy preferably within banking financial services or capital markets.
  • Demonstrated success building and influencing relationships across the political spectrum and within complex stakeholder ecosystems. Significant experience preparing and staffing senior private sector or business executives to deliver organizational messages in public and private settings with high-level policymakers. Proven ability to translate policy and regulatory developments into actionable business insights and strategies.
  • Relevant Industry Experience: Experience in understanding and influencing policy matters at the federal and state/local levels particularly in policy areas of greatest importance to Nasdaq. Deep understanding of US financial regulation market structure and legislative processes.
  • Drives for results: Coordinates execution by setting appropriate pace. Evokes ownership and accountability streamlines process/structure and reallocates resources quickly and flexibly.
  • Shapes strategy: Anticipates and interprets changes envisions the future and decides strategic priorities.
  • Inspire and influence: Builds powerful relationships helps others find meaning and purpose in their work inspires through energetic engagement. Ability to influence people at all levels of the organization regardless of reporting relationships.

The base pay range for this role is $143000 - $279000. In addition to base salary Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive) and equity (long-term incentive) comprehensive benefits and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to: skill set experience education/training business needs and market demands.
