District Academic Coach - Early Literacy
JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a grant-funded position aligned with a targeted literacy initiative.
The Early Literacy Coach will support multiple early literacy this role the Early Literacy Coach will provide direct support to school sites in utilizing literacy data to plan interventions and instruction. This support includes but is not limited to: reviewing literacy data coaching teachers on planning interventions and providing instruction and monitoring student progress. They are also responsible for providing ongoing professional development individual and team coaching support and attendance at relevant school and district leadership meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience. A Reading Endorsement and extensive knowledge of reading intervention programs are strongly preferred. Knowledge of Move On When Reading the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. Successful experience facilitating adult learning and delivering professional development specific to literacy instruction. Possesses effective interpersonal skills takes initiative communicates and has organizational skills. Experience with HMH Structured Literacy preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate expertise in the implementation of effective classroom instruction in the areas of the Science of Reading Structured Literacy and reading interventions
- Monitor student literacy data at multiple school sites and support sites in planning aligned interventions and instruction
- Familiar with MTSS systems
- Conference with school leadership teams in conducting student assessments and monitoring student progress by understanding analyzing and interpreting assessment data both formal and informal to inform and support instructional decisions
- Provide professional development and assist teachers in the implementation and effective delivery of scientifically based structured literacy practices
- Support school sites in utilizing phonemic awareness phonics fluency vocabulary and reading comprehension strategies aligned with the Arizona state standards
- Collaborate with teachers and site academic coaches by providing on-site support through Student Centered Coaching cycles including modeling direct explicit systematic instruction team teaching and/or observations in early literacy best practices and interventions.
- Assist administrators and site academic coaches in providing strategies for supporting and monitoring the early literacy instruction and interventions implementation.
- Develop implement and maintain records related to coaching cycles assessment data professional development and support services provided.
- Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a grant-funded position aligned with a targeted literacy initiative. The position will last for a period of two years beginning with the 2026-27 school year.
SALARY: nine-month position teachers salary schedule 20 additional days (at daily rate) $750 travel stipend $5000 master educator stipend and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
