$54.90 - $82.35The Division of Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Psychologist to provide evidence-basedconsultation-liaison assessment and intervention services to pediatric patients and their familiestreatedin theLevine ChildrensCenter forCancer and Blood Disorders withanemphasis on sickle cell disease and blood and marrow transplant (BMT).
Our comprehensive hematology/oncology and BMT programs serve a diverse and medically complex population of children and adolescents undergoing treatment for cancer and serious blood the regions only childrens hospital consistently recognized byU.S. News & World Report Levine ChildrensCenter forCancerandBlood Disordersoffers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services including outpatient and home-based chemotherapy a rapidly expanding pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant and stem cell transplant program and a comprehensive sickle cell disease center alsodeliverscutting-edgetherapies through developmental therapeutics and targeted radiation treatments including MIBG therapyone of few in the region. Care is delivered by a highly integrated interdisciplinary team across inpatient and outpatient settings supporting patients and families from diagnosis through treatment transplant recovery and survivorship. Active participation in investigator-initiated and multi-center clinical research is supported by robust clinical and research infrastructure advancing innovation in pediatric hematology oncology cellular therapy and sickle cell care.
Psychologistsat Levine Childrens alsoparticipatein the training of psychologypracticum students andother research quality improvement projectsandnewprogram development are encouraged. This position is eligible for a faculty appointment through theWake ForestUniversity School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics with rankcommensuratewith qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates the ability to conduct assessments based on clinical interview presenting information and clinical standards of program.
- Demonstrates ability to formulate an appropriate diagnosis using standards established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
- Writes appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis age and clinical presentation.
- Collaborates with appropriate guardians to insure effective service delivery.
- Provides clinical supervision of Psychologist I predoctoral interns and/or graduate practicum students in the practice of psychology.
- Conducts forensic evaluations and provides court testimony as an expert witness when directed.
- Selects administers and interprets psychological instruments including a written report on psychological evaluation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards.
- Writes appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of client and follows through with termination process.
- Manages clients in crisis utilizing appropriate skills and assessment.
Physical Requirements
Works in a patient care area with potentially combative or self-destructive patients. Each employee has the responsibility to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking standing lifting reaching and handling of charts and supplies.
Education Experience and Certifications
Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA approved training program required; license eligible or currently licensed as a Licensed Practicing Psychologist from the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists required. BLS required per policy guidelines. Pediatric psychology fellowshiptrainingand experience working in pediatric inpatient hospital settings isstronglypreferred. Applicants should be licensed orlicense-eligibleinNorth Carolinaprior to employment andare encouraged to pursue PSYPACT licensure.
